Nestled deep within the forests, the tribal village of Lavhali, Tal. Murbad, faced the challenge of providing education to its 400-450 residents. With limited sources of income from farming, labor jobs, and cattle rearing, the village depended on the z.p. aanganwadi and z.p. primary schools for education up to the 5th grade. Beyond that, students had to walk 3 kms to the neighboring village of Belpada for further education, leading to demotivation and dropout due to the arduous journey and deteriorating schools.
This daunting situation propelled Lakshya Foundation and Synechron Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to address the deteriorating state of Lavhali’s z.p. school. Visits, surveys, and meticulous observation identified the school’s various issues—dilapidated infrastructure, unusable toilets, water leakage, weak pillars, broken tiles, and more. Partnering under Synechron’s CSR initiative, Lakshya Foundation received funding to embark on a transformative mission.
In a mere three months, the collaboration revolutionized the school. The old plaster was removed, plinths and pillars fortified, and vibrant theme painting rejuvenated the building. The dilapidated toilet was replaced with new, gender-inclusive facilities, equipped with proper water supply, handwash basins, and provisions for specially-abled students. A UCR compound wall with chainlink fencing, gate, and flagpost enhanced security. The addition of electricity via solar panels tackled load-shedding issues. The school received new boards, furniture, play equipment, computers, and more.
The outcome? Lavhali Z.P. School was reborn as an exemplary institution, a role model for the region. Under the guidance of Mr. Rafique Nadaf and other officers from Synechron, the school’s transformation was celebrated on 11 July 2023. Inaugurated by Mr. Rafique Nadaf and Mr. Saifan Mujawar, the project showcases Lakshya Foundation’s dedication to change. The school, once in despair, now stands as a beacon of education and community empowerment in Lavhali.
