Sowing Seeds of Transformation: Our Gandhi Jayanti Cleanliness Drive

On the joyous occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2023, Lakshya Foundation found itself in the tribal village of Lavhali, a place that has witnessed a remarkable transformation, thanks to our unwavering commitment. In this village, where we once gifted the community with a repaired, renovated, and transformed school, we celebrated Swacchata Hi Seva Campaign with great enthusiasm.

Our esteemed Chief Trustee, Mr. Shirish Patil, along with our dedicated team, including Mr. Rajesh Patil, Mr. Hitesh Thakare, Mrs. Malay Thakare, the school’s principal, Mr. Pandurang Shirke, and teacher Mrs. Charushila Mahajan, joined hands with the young students of Z.P. School Lavhali. Together, we embarked on a cleanliness drive that extended beyond the school premises.

The day began with the noble endeavor of cleaning and washing the school’s toilets, and meticulously brooming the surroundings and classrooms. It was a demonstration of our commitment to cleanliness and the teachings of the great Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhiji, a towering figure in India’s struggle for independence, not only championed truth and non-violence but also emphasized the importance of cleanliness. His belief that “cleanliness is next to godliness” resonated with us, inspiring our pledge for a cleaner India.

With renewed spirits, we paid homage to Gandhiji and his invaluable contributions to our nation. Amidst the lush landscapes of Lavhali, we raised our voices and hearts in unison to sing the national song and speak the national pledge. The students, our beacons of hope, delighted us by singing patriotic songs, reminding us of the values that lie at the core of our foundation’s mission.

The Swacchata Hi Seva Campaign, which is celebrated from 15th September to 2nd October, holds the theme of ‘Garbage Free India.’ It is a noble initiative aimed at generating a jan andolan (people’s movement) through community participation, fostering the concept of sanitation as everyone’s business, and promoting visual cleanliness.

Lakshya Foundation’s presence on this day was a testament to our shared commitment to cleanliness, community, and our mission’s success. As we joined hands to clean and pledge for a cleaner India, we looked back on the remarkable journey of transformation we’ve undertaken in Lavhali and envisioned a brighter, cleaner future for all.

This Swacchata Hi Seva Celebration is not just a commemoration; it’s a reflection of our unwavering dedication to our tribal communities and our relentless pursuit of Gandhiji’s dream for a clean and harmonious India. We remain committed to our mission of education, empowerment, and holistic development, guided by the principles of truth and non-violence, just as Gandhiji envisioned.

Join us in this meaningful journey towards a cleaner, more vibrant India, where the spirit of community and cleanliness thrives. Together, we can achieve Mahatma Gandhi’s dream and make it a reality for all.
